Haskell & White Honored At Orange County’s 24th Annual “Business in the Arts” Awards

IRVINE, Calif. (November 30, 2005) – For the fifth year in a row, Irvine, Calif.-based Haskell & White LLP, earned kudos from the local arts community as a “Distinguished Achievement Award” recipient at the 24th Annual “Business In The Arts” Awards.

“Business In The Arts,” hosted by the Orange County Business Committee for the Arts, recognizes the outstanding commitment, participation and innovation of local companies in the region’s cultural organizations. Guests gathered at the Orange County Museum of Art on Nov. 20, 2005 to honor firms including Haskell & White, one of Southern California’s largest independently owned accounting and business consulting firms, for its continued contribution to performing arts in Orange County.

David White, Haskell & White co-founder and partner, accepted the award on behalf of the company.
“Supporting the arts is an essential aspect of our corporate culture,” said White, who sits on the Board of Directors for Arts Orange County. “We understand the deep importance of the arts to quality of life – for our clients, our employees and our community – and are committed as a company to seeing the arts continue to thrive in Orange County.”

Haskell & White clients Laguna Playhouse and South Coast Repertory nominated the company for this year’s “Business In The Arts” award. A panel of judges representing both the business and arts communities in Orange County selected winners based a combination of: contribution of financial and in-kind support; the quality and scope of the support program; the volunteer involvement of company personnel; the impact of support on the arts organization, the community and the company itself; and creative uses of the arts within the company.

“It is a privilege to be counted among the highly regarded businesses receiving this award,” said Wayne Pinnell, managing partner of Haskell & White. “Using our good fortune to help create an artistic legacy for Orange County’s future generations is a way of saying ‘thank you’ to a community that has welcomed and supported our business.”

For 2005, Haskell & White’s cash contributions to the arts in Orange County exceeded $50,000, including more than $40,000 to Laguna Playhouse, South Coast Repertory and Irvine Barclay Theater. The company donated nearly 500 hours of professional services in the tax and audit arenas, plus the firm’s partners and managers donated several hundred additional hours in the form of participation on the Boards of Directors of non-profit arts organizations.

Haskell & White began donating its time to the local arts community in the 1990s, when it developed a working relationship with Laguna Playhouse. The firm’s volunteer efforts steadily grew to include offering their expertise to other local arts organizations, such as South Coast Repertory and Irvine Barclay Theater, among others.
