Spencer serves a dual role at Haskell & White as IT Assurance Senior Manager and Information Security Officer, blending client-facing services with internal-facing responsibilities . As IT Assurance Senior Manager, Spencer leads the assurance department’s IT general control testing, SOX IT assessments and IT risk analysis for financial statement audits. Additionally, his expertise in data analytics and technology driven audit techniques contribute to the firm’s continual enhancement of audit methodologies and analytical procedures. In his role as Information Security Officer, he oversees the Firm’s commitment to cybersecurity, ensuring the protection of critical infrastructure and sensitive client data. He has extensive experience serving manufacturing, retail, healthcare, technology, and financial industries.

Prior to joining the Firm, Spencer spent nine years at a large regional firm leading IT audit, compliance and cybersecurity consulting engagements on a global scale. With his combined experiences in IT and public accounting, Spencer developed the critical skills for a career in cybersecurity in harmony with his extensive background in public accounting. Spencer has traveled around the world conducting cybersecurity audits and consulting projects, helping a diverse portfolio of clients navigate complex regulatory frameworks and risks.

Spencer takes a personal, transparent and hands-on approach to working with clients. His unique blend of expertise enables him to acutely adapt his method to changing audiences. Spencer is able to quickly understand and establish trust with a client’s technical teams while also being able to distill complex concepts down to what is essential for non-technical audiences to understand. He aims to provide the highest quality service and value to clients, empowering them with the insight they need to make informed decisions.

Spencer is a firm believer in lifelong learning. Whether by tackling new challenges, developing new skills, or exploring diverse hobbies, he is continuously seeking ways to grow. He holds multiple professional cybersecurity certifications including the Certified Information Systems Securities Professional (CISSP) and GIAC Systems and Network Auditor (GSNA). Spencer graduated from George Fox University with a Bachelor’s in Accounting. He currently resides in Central Oregon with his wife.
