Alena Smigla, CPA, is an Audit Manager at Haskell & White with seven years of public accounting experience. Alena prioritizes building positive relationships with clients and maintaining open and frequent communication to stay up-to-date on their goals and objectives. As a Manager, she is the primary contact for clients, leads the team in meeting deadlines, and guides staff to create an accurate and efficient product.

She has served a diverse client base in the banking, capital markets, private equity, manufacturing, and technology industries. By understanding her clients’ priorities and work style, Alena maximizes meeting time and simplifies project steps. Alena loves to see projects through from start to finish. She gains a deeper understanding of the project and can better serve and advise her clients. She is driven by efficiency and plans accordingly to streamline project completion.

Alena loves the challenges of public accounting. Every day brings new tasks, new clients, and new opportunities to learn. Alena has a proactive approach to personal growth and development. She enjoys getting out of her comfort zone to tackle new problems and learning to navigate new industries. One example of her expertise is helping clients navigate the new lease accounting standard, taking them from lease identification to accurate financial statement presentation.

Alena was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s in Accounting from the University of Kentucky. Alena looks forward to growing her public accounting career and expanding her knowledge in various industries.

Outside of work, Alena’s passions include music and fitness. She plays the violin, viola, and piano, showcasing her musical talents. Additionally, she enjoys staying active through fitness activities like running and hiking, and she has even earned personal training certifications to help others with their fitness goals.
